Quiet Write is a local-first Markdown writing app developed by Dojoism. This Privacy Policy explains how Quiet Write handles information when you create, edit, import, export, sync, and manage your drafts.
Overview
Quiet Write helps you write journals, drafts, essays, newsletters, and daily notes. The app is designed to work without a Quiet Write account, without advertising, without tracking analytics, without a Dojoism writing server, and without an AI writing pipeline.
Information We Collect
Quiet Write does not collect personal data from you through a Dojoism account or server. The writing you enter into the app is stored locally on your device first. Dojoism does not operate an account system, analytics system, advertising system, profiling system, or server database for your drafts.
Drafts and Writing Data You Enter
You may choose to enter document titles, Markdown content, creation dates, update dates, archive status, deleted status, version snapshots, app settings, and purchase status. This information is used only to provide Quiet Write's writing, library, archive, version history, sync, import, export, and unlock features.
Local Storage
Quiet Write stores your writing library and settings locally on your device using a JSON file in the app's Application Support storage. This data remains under your control on your device unless you enable iCloud sync or choose to export or share it.
Optional iCloud Sync
Quiet Write can optionally sync your writing library through Apple's iCloud Key-Value Store. If iCloud sync is enabled, your draft library and settings may be stored in and synchronized by your Apple iCloud account across your Apple devices. Dojoism does not run a separate sync server for this feature and does not receive your iCloud credentials.
Imports
Quiet Write can import .md and .txt files that you select. Imported file contents are added to your local Quiet Write library. The app accesses the selected file only for the import action you start.
Export and Sharing
Quiet Write can export a single draft as Markdown, share a draft from the editor, export all writing as Markdown, or create a JSON backup. Exported files are created only when you choose to export or share. After export, the destination you choose, such as Files, Mail, Messages, AirDrop, or another app, controls how that exported copy is handled.
Purchases
Quiet Write is designed around a one-time lifetime unlock. If you make a purchase or restore a purchase, payment and transaction processing are handled by Apple through the App Store using StoreKit. Dojoism does not receive your full payment card details. Apple may provide transaction status information needed to unlock purchased features.
Accounts, Publishing, and AI
Quiet Write does not provide custom accounts, team workspaces, public publishing, or AI writing features. Your writing is not sent to Dojoism for publishing, processing, generation, or model training.
Notifications
The current version of Quiet Write does not use push notification servers. If a future version adds optional reminders or notifications, this Privacy Policy will be updated if needed.
Third-Party Services
Quiet Write does not use third-party advertising SDKs, tracking SDKs, profiling analytics, or data broker services. Apple services may be used for App Store purchases, restore purchase, app distribution, and optional iCloud sync according to Apple's terms and privacy policies.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data. Because Quiet Write does not collect your drafts on a Dojoism server, we cannot share those drafts with advertisers, data brokers, or other third parties.
Data Retention and Deletion
Your drafts remain on your device until you edit, archive, delete, permanently delete, export, or remove the app. If iCloud sync is enabled, copies may remain in your Apple iCloud account according to Apple's iCloud behavior and your device settings. Deleting the app may remove locally stored app data from your device, subject to Apple's system behavior and backups.
Children's Privacy
Quiet Write is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
International Users
Quiet Write can be used in different regions, but writing data is designed to remain local to your device or, if enabled by you, inside your Apple iCloud account. App Store purchases and downloads are handled by Apple according to Apple's terms and privacy policies.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, when appropriate, provide notice in the app or on our website.
